About the Program:
Broadway to the Palace is the inaugural education initiative launched by The Academy, the newly formed education department at Westmoreland Cultural Trust. This unique artist retreat will combine Broadway-level coaching with artist-centered wellness practices led by field experts.
The program brings together 20–25 performers and a featured Broadway guest artist for an unforgettable week of learning, rehearsing, and sharing work culminating in a public showcase at the historic Palace Theatre in Greensburg, PA.
Position: Music Director
The Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Director to lead the musical components of the retreat and culminating showcase. The Music Director will collaborate closely with the Broadway guest artist and the Retreat Director to coach participants, accompany rehearsals, and shape the musical content of the final presentation.
Dates & Schedule:
August 4–8, 2025: Daily retreat sessions (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
August 9, 2025: Tech rehearsal (daytime) and public showcase (evening)
Location:
The historic Palace Theatre in downtown Greensburg, PA will host all classes, rehearsals, and the final showcase.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as accompanist and vocal coach during rehearsals and classes
- Collaborate with the Broadway guest artist and Retreat Director to stage and shape the final presentation
- Manage all aspects of vocal technique, part learning, and group musicality
- Be an integral member of the creative team by helping to assign, modify, and fully realize musical selections for participants
- Create a positive, collaborative, and engaging environment for performers
Qualifications:
- Advanced piano and sight-reading skills required
- Experience as a music director or accompanist in theatrical or educational settings
- Strong background in vocal coaching and ensemble rehearsal techniques
- Ability to adapt and collaborate quickly in a fast-paced, creative environment
- Experience working with performers in a summer intensive or educational format preferred
- Must possess or be willing to obtain all necessary and appropriate background checks and child abuse clearances required for working with minors
Compensation & Perks:
- $1200.00 Stipend
